Welcome to The Arts Society Sheffield  Website.

With 300 members, we are one of 360 societies throughout the UK and Europe affiliated to The Arts Society. We meet at 11am on the third Thursday of the month at Tapton Hall, Ranmoor. Our objective, through inspiring lectures, visits, Special Interest Days and heritage projects, is to broaden our knowledge and enjoyment of all aspects of the arts with like-minded and friendly people.

Our lecturers are chosen for their knowledge, presentational skills and entertainment value. They speak on a wide variety of topics: architecture, artists and designers, china, glass, furniture, jewellery, music, painting and much more, covering ancient history to modern times. Before the lecture you can chat with members over a coffee. Lunch facilities are also available after the lecture.

Our visits include country houses, exhibitions, gardens and other places of interest. We have organised very successful trips away both in the UK and more recently to Berlin and Istanbul. For those who enjoy hearing about a subject in greater depth, we have Special Interest Days, which enable the topic to be presented in more detail. Members can get involved in their local heritage through Church Recording, Trails of Discovery, Arts Volunteering and other heritage projects.
